What is a Mausoleum?

Simply put, a Mausoleum is a free-standing building or structure used for the above-ground entombment of casketed remains into a crypt, or the inurnment (placement) of cremated remains in a columbarium niche.


In one way or another, Mausoleums have been built and used for above-ground entombment for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians are most famous for constructing elaborate types of mausoleums and structures where they 'entombed' their deceased instead of burying them. The Great Pyramids are a prime example of a monument built for the purposes of entombment that have stood the test of time.


The Mausoleum at San Tan Memorial Gardens was built with much of the same purposes as those of old - to be a final place of rest and to stand for generations to come.

    Crypts and Niches are available for purchase with interest-free payment plans if needed. The option to pay outright in one lump-sum, is available as well.

  • How is the Mausoleum maintained?

    Each time a crypt or niche is sold, an Endowment Care fee is collected. 100% of the Endowment Care fee is deposited into the cemetery's irrevocable trust fund which is then utilized for maintenance and upkeep when the cemetery is completely sold out.


    As the cemetery grows and eventually reaches capacity, interest alone from the trust fund will be enough to maintain not just the mausoleum but the entire cemetery for generations to come.

  • When will the Mausoleum be built?

    Construction of the Mausoleum was completed in September 2023. The Grand Opening was held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 and is open every day during the following hours:


    • Monday - Friday: 8:00AM - 4:30PM
    • Saturday/Sunday/Holidays: 9:00AM - 4:00PM

  • How will the Mausoleum be secured?

    The mausoleum will truly be one-of-a-kind in affordability, function, and security. The Mausoleum is equipped with 24/7 security monitoring as well as an alarm system. It is locked nightly and will not offer any crypts or niches on it's exterior. 

  • Can a ground-burial be transferred to a crypt or niche within the Mausoleum?

    Existing ground-burials, whether it be a casket or an urn, can be transferred to the Mausoleum. Aside from the Endowment Care fee, the amount originally paid for the ground-burial plot will be credited and only the difference in price will be required in purchasing a crypt or niche for the transfer of a loved one.


    A one-time Endowment Care fee is charged each time a plot, crypt, or niche is purchased, and cannot be refunded.

  • What type of caskets and urns are accepted within the Mausoleum?

    If a casket is to be entombed (or placed) in a crypt, then we require the person to be embalmed. An urn is required when cremated remains are placed within the mausoleum. There are restrictions on the type of caskets or urns allowed within the mausoleum as specified in the attachment below.
